Board of education
health screenings
In partnership with the Clay County Board
of Education, Manchester Memorial Hospital
performed health screenings for school
faculty as a part of our Heart Health Initia-
tive. The Mission in Motion mobile unit was
on-site at each Clay County school to make
these screenings available and conve-
nient for staff. Over 250 participants were
screened and provided with a copy of their
results on-site.
CREATION Health
school board lectures
Manchester Memorial Hospital began a
partnership with the Clay County Board of
Education in March 2014 to provide
CREATION Health lectures to faculty mem-
bers at the central office. Each week the
lectures focused on a different letter of the
CREATION acronym and consisted of an
8- to 12-minute CREATION Health video
clip, a short CREATION Health devotional
and discussion time.
M
anchester Memorial Hos-
pital (MMH) held its an-
nual health fair on May 20,
2014, at Eastern Kentucky University
(Manchester Campus) from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. More than 85 community mem-
bers attended the fair and enhanced
their knowledge on a number of topics.
“Manchester Memorial Hospital is
dedicated to providing its community
with programs designed to educate and
support their path to wellness through
healthier eating and lifestyles choices,”
said Hurriyat Ghayyur, marketing direc-
tor for MMH.
is year, the theme was
CREATION Health (CH), which is a
faith-based health and wellness program
based on the Bible’s creation story. All
participants were categorized under each
letter of the acronym CREATION, and
attendees got a chance to visit di erent
booths, pick up educational material and
get some useful giveaways.
MMH’s Mission in Motion unit was
on-site and conducted numerous health
screenings, including blood pressure,
cholesterol and bone density. Along with
them, MMH was represented via their
Infection Prevention and Dietary units.
Willowbrook Women’s Center had an in-
formative booth with great giveaways for
the ladies, while Memorial Home Health
was also present with a booth.
ere was a separate CREATION
Health booth, where a lot of CH infor-
mation was displayed and the hospital’s
CH specialist was on hand to educate
everyone on the eight simple principles.
Along with printed material, the booth
also had CREATION Health videos
playing, which drew the eye and atten-
tion of many attendees.
e highlights of the event included
a demo by Silver Dragon on self-defense;
free massages; and live Zumba sessions,
which were a hit with the ladies. ree
major door prizes were drawn every two
hours, and the winners walked away with
baskets full of great CREATION Health
paraphernalia.
