Your family's health
utlook is the seventh guiding principle of
the CREATION Health lifestyle. Your
outlook colors your perspective on life.
Recent research suggests that your attitude
in uences your health and even a ects the progression
of disease. Outlook is a gift you give to yourself—it’s the
colors with which you paint the world. Some of us leave
smudges of gray and dark purple as we frown through the
day. at’s our choice. Others leave sparkling designs of
gold, green and sky blue. at’s also our decision.
God designed each of us to be di erent, special,
unique and wonderful. But having a negative outlook
is not in His plan. A negative outlook switches o the
lights of hope. It changes love to hate and peace to stress.
A positive outlook does just the opposite. It turns on the
lights; ignites love; and allows our hearts to focus on pos-
sibilities, not problems. He made us to be positive, and
His example sets the standard.
What could have been more discouraging than to
create something as wonderful as the universe, the world,
the Garden of Eden, and then watch as the most special
and beloved creation—humans—turned against you?
Yet God didn’t become depressed and mope around
heaven for a few thousand years. He went straight to
work, making our relationship with Him right. And
knowing how fallible men and women are…He really
must have been an optimist.
Time to adjust
e good news is that optimism can be learned and that
it has a wonderful e ect on every aspect of your life.
1.
Optimism will help you realize you have more
choices. It will help you think of and act on good,
healthy choices. When you are optimistic, you under-
stand that your choices really make a di erence.
2.
Optimism will help you rest easier; a positive view of
your future will allow you to relax today and help you
sleep well at night.
3.
Optimism will help you seek an environment that
is healing and restorative. When you are optimistic,
you will do things such as believing that you can make
changes in your space like cleaning a closet, getting orga-
nized and keeping it that way.
4.
Optimism will help you believe that you have what
it takes to be mentally and physically active on a regular
basis. When you do have setbacks or roadblocks, your
optimistic outlook will help you get back on track and
pick up where you left o .
5.
Optimism will help you trust. Optimism will help
you trust in God and believe that He has your best inter-
est in mind. Optimism will help you trust others too; it
will assist in building relationships, having peace of mind
and lowering your stress.
6.
Optimism will help you have a positive, cheery out-
look, and this will improve your interpersonal relation-
ships because others will be drawn to you. When we have
a positive outlook, we look for the positive in others and

encourage them. We also stick with others through chal-
lenging times because we believe in them and that all will
work out for good.
7.
Optimism will help you think positively about your
nutrition choices. If you have had challenges with diet in
the past or if you feel like you have never been able to eat
the way you should, then having an optimistic outlook
will help you succeed. It will help you realize that you do
have the power to in uence your health by choosing the
best possible food for your body.
